Following the last edition of the 2026 Madrid Book Fair and continuing the cultural activity of previous years, the 4th Puente Viesgo Spa Short Story Competition was announced, in which the jury has once again been impartial, with the winner being Mrs MERCEDES RODRIGO MORA and her story «HERE, NOW» (which can be read in the attached file)

As Ms Rodrigo Mora tells us, she already submitted a piece to the 2025 Short Story Competition and gathered the information once again. Following the telephone call and passing on the congratulations of the members of the Jury, and as in previous years, we have discovered that her origins are Cantabrian and she has family in Cantabria, where she is a regular visitor throughout the year.

Mrs Rodrigo Mora is an English teacher and, as she tells us, the study of the Anglo-Saxon language has helped her to write in a special way in Spanish.

Self-taught is the second year she has submitted a short story work and it has filled her with pride to be this year's winner.

Also, a personal facet in which she excels is pastry making and the creation of typical Cantabrian products such as quesada pasiega and cheesecake (with the latter she won an award).

Like the winners of previous editions, Ms Rodrigo Mora Valls will enjoy the prize consisting of a “Relaxing Weekend” stay at the Puente Viesgo Spa (with various spa services) which we hope she enjoys and is another source of inspiration for a future literary and/or gastronomic work.
